Counsellors Are Here To Help, Transform The Nation, and They Deserve Their Pay:


To get someone to listen and to help you professionally is a paid service. Even if an NGO is sponsoring you to get free service, someone's charitable donation is paying for it. Professional Counsellors/Therapists go to school, pay their school fees, get their certifications/license, and later sometimes open their private practices. Not only that, they belong to professional bodies which require dues and other requirements to maintain their Professionalism. A society that values its psychosocial support systems is a wise and organized society. When Nigeria gets fully there, you will see that citizens will relate better will themselves, students will have a safe space to share their concerns without intimidation, and drivers will drive "normally" and Courts will order couples to attempt Therapy first in order to try to prevent divorce and health insurance companies will now be paying more for Mental Health Services. There are other benefits too. Please, let's support these Professionals to have a better Nigeria. - Martha I. **[A free little exercise routine surprise at the end]*** A simple "OK" is better than an arguement. "OK" doesn't always mean "yes" or "no."  Sometimes, "OK" is just acknowledging that you've gotten the message. Yes, I know "OK" has other meanings, am just focusing on preventing unnecessary arguments right now. For example, if your boss calls you and reminds you about a policy or something, your saying "OK" means you've heard him. It's not the time to start  an argument defending yourself or trying to prove you don't need to be reminded. Same thing happens in relationships.
